How to Improve Petsafe Battery Life
Tips to Improve Battery Life:
- All batteries deteriorate over time and with use. Our batteries have a shelf life of 5 years.
- Battery life will depend on how often product activates. The more often the product is on and activated, the lower battery life will be. The more often the collar activates, the more the battery life decreases.
- For rechargeable batteries: Do not overcharge. Only charge batteries when low battery indicator is lit. Always charge batteries to full capacity, especially on the first charge. Only use approved chargers.
- Extreme temperatures can affect battery life, especially rechargeable NiMH batteries. Store product and battery at room temperature.
- Turn off product when not in use.
- Remove batteries and store in a cool, dry place when product is not in use for more than a month.
- Test battery at least once per month.
- Avoid dropping or damaging the battery. Keep product away from pet when not in use to prevent your pet from damaging it. Follow the guide in your product manual when replacing the battery to avoid damaging it.
- Do not keep the battery near metal objects, such as in a junk drawer with paper clips, nails, scissors, etc.
- Keep extra batteries on hand, especially in cold weather, when battery life will be reduced.
